Battle for the Acropolis

This Friday I could play a roman Impetus battle with my friend Pepe. We planned a battle with the battlelfield centre occupied by a village in a hill, whic was the objetive to take. On one hand, the legion XVI Flavia Firma fought with help of one detachment of barbarian goths socii, two detachments of lanciarii and Praetorian cavalry. On the other hand, the legions II Traiana and V Macedonica, with the helping hand of some auxiliar infantry and ballistae.

The main fight was fought between the legionaries of the V Macedonica and the ones of the XVI, with heavy support of praetorian cavarly and catafracts. The catafract cavarly, taking andvance, could break and disband the V legion's cavalry support. On the other hand, the praetorians charge viciously against the macedonian cohorts, breaking them into pieces.

While the V and the XVI fought to death, the auxiliary infantry and ballistae of the II Traiana tried to take the hill, defended by a group of goths socii, but they were repulsed with heavy losses. The combats were so cruel that the II Traiana hardly had time to fight against the goths before knowing that the battle was lost.
